What is a subject access request?

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), employees have the right to request and obtain a copy of their personal data held by their employer, or former employer. This is known as making a data subject access request (DSAR).

How long does an employer have to respond?

Once received, an employer is legally required to respond within 1 month of receiving the request save for where the request if complex, involves multiple requests or where the organisation requires additional information from the requester amongst other factors.
